Mentoring, support, advocacy and vocation services for the homeless
Christchurch Collective for the Homeless Charitable Trust (CCftH) started as a Hui initiated service in July 2015, by the collectives founder, Brenda Lowe-Johnson.
We offer a de-colonised, strengths-focused mentoring, support, advocacy and vocation service that offers programs for people experiencing homelessness.
We provide one to one support that seeks to empower clients and their whānau.
We have helped over 700 people get into homes, with clients supported post housing, for up to 12 months.
We facilitate hui to ensure the voices of people who are homeless are heard by agencies, government departments, to adapt their services to meet the needs of our homeless whānau.
We provide a holistic service where we look at the reasons for homelessness.
We understand the importance of helping whānau and their community to reconnect.

There are a lot of reasons for homelessness. Significant issues such as not having sufficient identification i.e birth certificates or an address or bank account to receive government aid.
Not having transport or any way to be contacted, are all areas we can help.
We often work with other charitable agencies to address a variety of issues affecting our clients.

Free breakfast is provided at every Tuesday at Margaret Mahy Playground, at the BBQ area.
When available, we also give out food boxes of vegetables and other donated food.
There is a friendly family atmosphere, and all are welcome.

Every third month we run a hui to support the homeless, where they can raise their concerns and have their voices heard.
We invite representatives from various Social Services agencies to enable clients to ask questions in a supportive environment.
We also invite guest speakers.

Every year we have a Xmas Hui for our clients, where lunch and presents are supplied by our generous sponsors and the Trust.

During the summer months, we hold a picnic for clients and their families.
