Ko wai mātou?
InsideOUT Kōaro is a national charity providing education, resources, consultation and support for anything concerning rainbow and takatāpui communities. We offer guidance, professional development and workshops for schools, workplaces and community organisations across Aotearoa.
Our Te Tiriti Journey
As a predominantly tauiwi organisation originating within te ao Pākehā, InsideOUT Kōaro has a responsibility to continuously work to whakamana Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We seek to embody its principles by engaging more ethically, competently, and accountably with Māori both internally and externally in all aspects of our mahi.
We recognise our responsibility to uphold the mana of takatāpui as tangata whenua, especially in the Aotearoa rainbow charity workspace.
We support schools to be rainbow inclusive
InsideOUT’s nationwide team of regional schools’ coordinators are here to support rainbow, takatāpui and MVPFAFF+ young people and their schools.
Our schools’ coordinators can work closely alongside your school to provide professional development and workshops, offer guidance on rainbow inclusion, and help with other projects and activities such as setting up or strengthening QSAs (Queer-Straight Alliances) or Rainbow Diversity Groups.
Our schools’ coordinators also run regular Q’D-UP meetings that provide opportunities for QSA leaders and members from different schools to connect and access peer support and guidance - https://insideout.org.nz/for-schools/
For Schools
School staff have a crucial role to play in ensuring that schools are safe, inclusive and accessible for rainbow young people.
We have a range of digital and printed educational resources to equip you with the tools and knowledge to make your schools and classrooms more rainbow inclusive.
Our team of regional Schools Coordinators are also available to provide professional development and workshops to school staff and teachers anywhere in Aotearoa. They can also offer guidance on supporting and affirming rainbow students, working with whānau and developing inclusive policies and procedures within your school - OUR SCHOOL SERVICES
For Youth & Whānau
It can be hard being a rainbow, takatāpui or intersex young person. We have compiled a range of resources for you to learn more about rainbow identities and safely explore who you are. We can also connect you to rainbow-inclusive sex, relationship and healthcare education.
If you are looking for support or community, we also have a list of rainbow support services, social groups and volunteering opportunities throughout Aotearoa.
If you have a rainbow young person or loved one, you may wish to learn more about their identities and get advice on how to support them. We can direct you to educational resources and support groups for whānau on these learning journeys - Resources & Support
